- Applying Heat: Place the clean, tinned tip against both the component lead and the solder pad simultaneously.
- Applying Solder: Once the joint is hot enough (typically a few seconds), apply solder to the opposite side of the joint from the iron. The solder should flow smoothly and quickly around the joint. Do not apply solder directly to the iron tip.
- Removing the Iron: Once the solder has flowed, remove the soldering iron first, then the solder. Allow the joint to cool undisturbed.
